Peter Kay is set to recreate his famous music video for Tony Christie’s “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo” for BBC’s forthcoming The Big Night In.

In 2005, Kay’s video helped the re-released song to a seven-week stint at number one. The video featured Kay marching towards the camera while celebrities, including Bill Roache, Michael Parkinson and Orville the Duck, accompanied him.

For The Big Night In, the BBC One variety show in aid of Comic Relief and Children in Need, Kay is calling on nurses, care workers, retail workers and others to march beside him via video.

On Kay’s official Facebook page, a post reads: “All in aid of the BBC’s Big Night In, Peter wants you stomping along to the original track to show your support for the night of fundraising.”

“To be in with a chance of making it into his final video, we’re looking for people to film themselves marching and dancing to the original track.”

You can find out more about how to apply here.

The fundraising event, will also feature contributions from celebrities such as Dawn French, who is reviving her beloved Vicar of Dibley character, and Catherine Tate, who will be performing as “Lauren the schoolgirl” from the popular Noughties sketch series The Catherine Tate Show.

Matt Lucas and David Walliams are also set to appear with a brand new Little Britain sketch.

The Big Night In airs on Thursday, 23 April at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
