Strictly Come Dancing: Former England footballer Alex Scott eliminated from BBC competition

The latest celebrity to be voted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing has been revealed.

Last night’s episode (30 November) was the quarter-final, meaning the show is just two weeks away from awarding its winner.

Missing out on a place in the semi-final, though, is former England footballer Alex Scott, who has become the eleventh contestant to leave the BBC competition.

Jones scored the lowest number of votes alongside comedian Chris Ramsey, who found himself in the dance off with professional dancer Karen Hauer.

Both Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to save Scott and partner Neil Jones from elimination, but it was Shirley Ballas’s deciding vote as head judge that sent her home after Bruno Tonioli opted to save Ramsey.

Speaking about her time on the show, Jones said: “I’ve been a fan of Strictly forever. I’ve loved every moment and I have to thank everyone, and everyone behind the scenes who make this show work.

“I’ve literally lived out another dream – I had football and then this chapter. I have to thank my dancer partner, he’s incredible. Thank you to everyone.

Jones said: “I’ve been so lucky because I got a partner. And, I got you, you were the best. You were so good. [Alex has] taught me so much.”

Scott’s elimination was leaked on social media ahead of broadcast, with one “gutted” viewer saying the footballer’s departure would stop them from watching the rest of the series.

Strictly Come Dancing continues with its semi-final episode next Saturday 7 December at 7pm on BBC One.
