The Duchess of Cambridge’s Marchesa gown at the Spanish state banquet was hailed a triumph by her fashion followers.
Blogger “Duchess Kate” said the pale pink gown – with its daring neckline – marked a change to Kate’s usual style but was a perfect princess dress.
“Kate debuted a gorgeous new bespoke gown by Marchesa,” they said on hrhduchesskate.blogspot.com.
“The bespoke pink lace design is quite different to the signature style we’ve seen the Duchess favour up to this point.
“It features distinctive flared cuffs, a plunging neckline and a v-neckline at the back. It’s very much a gown perfect for a princess.”
Kate’s Closet described the outfit worn to the evening affair at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday as “beautiful”, while @KateMiddStyle tweeted: “Oh wow” and added: “Loving this pink colour Kate!”
Queen Leitiza’s glittering off-the-shoulder gown by Felipe Varela was also praised for its regal red. Her Fleur de Lys “La Buena” diamond tiara was branded “spectacular”.
Letizia’s first outfit of the day – a sleek, elegant bespoke lemon coat and yellow dress, edged in lace was described as a “ray of sunshine” by queenletiziastyle.com.
“Queen Letizia was a ray of sunshine as she kicked off the tour in a yellow ensemble by her designer of choice, Felipe Varela,” the fashion blogger wrote.
They added: “As British protocol dedicates for such stately occasions, Queen Letizia wore a hat and gloves in a matching tone.”
The site said it was the first time the Queen had worn a “chapeau” since becoming Queen consort in June 2014. The bespoke headpiece was by Maria Nieto.
Letizia switched into a red Burberry coat dress to meet the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House.
WhatKateWore.com cited Letizia’s “sartorial diplomacy” for choosing the British fashion house.
The Burberry Buckle Detail Satin-Back Crepe Trench Dress featured buckle trimmed epaulettes and a belted waist.
