Pierce Brosnan recalled how he had a “scare” with Prince Charles back in March, before people began quarantining for the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor, who is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, told Jimmy Fallon that he met with Prince Charles at the London Palladium for an event, around the time there was “no shaking hands”.

A few days later, filming for Brosnan’s new film Cinderella, the latest reboot from Disney, was shut down.

On The Tonight Show, Brosnan recalled flying home to Hawaii where he read that Prince Charles had tested positive for Covid-19.

“That mildly freaks one out,” Brosnan said. “I went into quarantine when I came back here… and Prince Charles came through!”

He continued: “I wrote him a note, I said, ‘I’m sorry for your troubles,’ and he wrote back and said, ‘I’m feeling much better, I just can’t taste or smell anything. It’s very boring.’”

In the same interview, Brosnan said he “vaguely” remembers saving his James Bond co-star Halle Berry from choking while on the set of Die Another Day.

In April this year, Berry recalled the incident in which a scene went awry.

“One time I was doing a scene with Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day,” she told Fallon. “I was supposed to be all sexy and trying to seduce him with a fig, and then I ended up choking on it.

“He had to get up and do the Heimlich [manoeuvre]. It was so not sexy, like so not sexy!”

She added: “James Bond knows how to Heimlich! He was there for me, he will always be one of my favourite people in the whole world.”

Brosnan said he was “not sure” what took place during the incident.

“I vaguely remember it,” he said. “I’ve seen little quotes in the press recently. We were on the set, I’m not quite sure what I did, I might have Heimliched her, I’m not sure.”

Laughing, he joked: “I just patted her on the back.”

He suggested he could have learnt the Heimlich manouvre from his famous scene with Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire, where the late actor’s character saves him from choking in a restaurant.
