The group were performing in London’s Brixton Academy in 2004 when they noticed the world-famous rocker in the stands.

Speaking to the BBC, lead singer Caleb Followill said: “It was very distracting because we were playing the show and there were a few empty seats up top; and then before you know it, it’s Mick sitting there and banging his arms on the balcony and dancing.

“We were all looking at each other like, ‘Holy crap, this is very surreal.’”

Followill suggested that Jagger’s presence in the crowd caused him to start imitating Jagger’s famous on-stage dance moves.

“I started shaking my hips a little more,” he revealed. “Yep, I definitely did some dancing that I hadn’t done before.”

“We’re all preparing,” said Followill, “and just sitting by the front door with our backpacks waiting to get the call. We want it more than anyone.

“Touring is our life, it always has been, even when we were kids. And so to be stuck in a house… while it was great to be with our families, we can’t wait to get out there. Playing live keeps you young.”

Their new album, When You See Yourself, is out now.
