Kanye West has said that he will be voting for US president Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

In a series of interviews with GQ magazine, the musician said: “I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here!”

West has come under fire for his public support of Trump in the past, with many critics taking issue with the president’s history of inflammatory racist remarks.

Asked whether he would be going to the polls this year, the College Dropout rapper said: “No, I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on.”

“I was told my career would end if I wasn’t with [Hillary Clinton]. What kind of campaign is that, anyway?” he continued.

“That’s like if Obama‘s campaign was ‘I’m with black.’ What’s the point of being a celebrity if you can’t have an opinion? Everybody make their own opinion! You know?”

West has previously likened the backlash he has received for supporting Trump to racial discrimination.

In the GQ piece, he hinted that one reason he likes Trump so much is because of his property investments. “I buy real estate,” West said. “It’s better now than when Obama was in office. They don’t teach you in school about buying property. They teach you how to become somebody’s property.”
