Jason Manford has been offered the chance to work a shift at Iceland after joking that he was “livid” to be rejected for a job at Tesco.

After the comedian spoke about his rejection on social media, frozen food supermarket Iceland tweeted the comedian: “Our door is always open for you @JasonManford. Help us out for the day and we’ll make a donation to the NHS in your name.”

Making a slight dig at their competitor, Iceland added Tesco’s slogan to the end of the tweet, writing: “#everylittlehelps” with a wink emoji.

In response, Manford said that he was “happy to do a shift”, so long as his wages were donated to his chosen charity, the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, which provides holidays and fun days out for children with complex disabilities.

On Monday, the former 8 Out Of 10 Cats captain took to Twitter to share his rejection email from Tesco after applying to work for them as a delivery driver during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Absolutely livid @Tesco. I was only trying to do my bit,” he joked, adding: “I hope the better person got and enjoys the job, I’ll be watching.

“I even signed my CV off “Previous experience: Comedian. So I know that it’s all in the delivery!” Still nothing.”
