“YES @TheAmandaGorman!!! -LMM,” the Hamilton creator tweeted to the inaugural poet.

Gorman responded, “Thx @Lin_Manuel! Did you catch the 2 @HamiltonMusical references in the inaugural poem? I couldn’t help myself!”

“You were perfect. Perfectly written, perfectly delivered. Every bit of it. Brava! -LMM,” Miranda wrote back.

Gorman, 22, is the first National Youth Poet Laureate and has said that she wanted the poem, titled “The Hill We Climb”, to be a “message of hope and unity”.

Oprah Winfrey was among the many celebrities who heaped praise on Gorman, referencing poet and writer Maya Angelou, who read “On the Pulse of Morning” is at the first inauguration of President Bill Clinton in 1993.

“I have never been prouder to see another young woman rise! Brava Brava, @TheAmandaGorman! Maya Angelou is cheering – and so am I.”

Michelle Obama also had a celebratory statement for Gorman.

“With her strong and poignant words, @TheAmandaGorman reminds us of the power we each hold in upholding our democracy. Keep shining, Amanda! I can’t wait to see what you do next. Two hearts #BlackGirlMagic”

Ahead of her reading, Gorman spoke with CBS News about how she prepares ahead of any performance.

“One of the preparations that I do always whenever I perform is I say a mantra to myself, which is ‘I’m the daughter of black writers. We’re descended from freedom fighters who broke through chains and changed the world. They call me.’ And that is the way in which I prepare myself for the duty that needs to get done,” she said.
