Ken Jennings has been announced as the interim host of Jeopardy! when it resumes production on 30 November. The winner of this year’s “Greatest Of All Time” tournament is taking over for the late game show host Alex Trebek and will be the first in a series of guest hosts.

“Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him,” executive producer Mike Richards said in a statement.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is still holding off on naming a full-time successor following Trebek’s death.

“We will honour Alex’s legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved with smart contestants and challenging clues. By bringing in familiar guest hosts for the foreseeable future, our goal is to create a sense of community and continuity for our viewers.”

In addition to winning this year’s Jeopardy: The Greatest of All Time tournament, Jennings holds the game show’s record for consecutive games won (74) and holds the record for winning $2,520,700 on the show’s traditional format.

Trebek died on 8 November from pancreatic cancer, after being diagnosed in March of last year. The longtime host’s final day in studio was 29 October.
