Fired cybersecurity chief sues Trump lawyer over call for him to be shot

Fired cybersecurity chief Chris Krebs is reportedly suing one of president Trump‘s lawyers for saying he should be shot.

Chris Krebs, former head of the US government’s cybersecurity agency, has filed a lawsuit against Joseph DiGenova claiming defamation and distress.

He is seeking monetary damages and demanding the removal of a threatening video from the Newsmax archives, The New York Times reports.

Not long after Chris Krebs declared that the 2020 US election was the safest in history, Mr DiGenova called for violence against him.

He told Newsmax that Mr Krebs should be “drawn and quartered” and “shot”.

Mr Krebs’s lawsuit also claims that Newsmax works closely with Mr DiGenova to amplify his attacks on his political opponents, according to the NYT report.

After falling out with Fox News over its negative election coverage, Mr Trump’s new favoured media company appears to be Newsmax.

It continues to give air time to Mr Trump and his legal team’s false claims of voter fraud at the election.

Mr Krebs, a lifelong Republican, was fired as the director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency by Mr Trump on 17 November.

He was giving his marching order after confirming that the election was the cleanest in history, adding: “There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”
