Electronic Arts have announced a release schedule for their upcoming games, including Fifa 21.

Despite difficulties in production and distribution caused by the coronavirus pandemicFifa 21 and Madden 21 are on course for a September release, consistent with previous years.

Other video games had already suffered delays as a result of the pandemic, including The Last of Us Part II and Iron Man VR, leaving many fans wondering whether Fifa would be pushed back until nearer the end of 2020.

Football leagues around Europe have suspended activity during the crisis, and a lot of uncertainty remains as to how, when, and if, the rest of the 2019/20 football season will play out.

EA confirmed the release date (given as Q2, which covers July to September) as part of their end-of-fiscal year report, in which they also revealed that the current edition of the footballing simulator, Fifa 20has reached 25 million unique players.

In the report, EA qualified the news by saying: “The full extent of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to our business, operations and financial results will depend on numerous evolving factors that we are not able to predict.”

The games company also announced they will be releasing 14 titles between now and March 2021, including four sports games, Burnout Paradise on the Nintendo Switch and Medal of Honor VR.
