Cardi B has posted a video pledging support to the anti-racist protests and looting that is spreading across the USA.

In the latest political move for the rapper, Cardi spoke of being exhausted by peaceful protests and hashtag campaigns against police brutality. She also said that she reluctantly supported the looting that has occurred.

“Seeing people looting and going extremely outraged, it makes me feel like, ‘Yes, finally, finally, motherf***ers are gonna hear us now’,” she said. “As much as people are so against it, at this point I feel like I’m not against it, even though it’s scary and I don’t want anybody to get hurt.”

She said that peaceful protests against police brutality, as well as online campaigns, have so far achieved little.

“Ever since Instagram started, how many peaceful protests have we seen? How many trending hashtags have we seen? These hashtags keep repeating themselves,” she said. “I feel like I’ve done videos against police brutality, I feel like this is my seventh time.

“I’ve been doing f***ing police brutality videos ever since my teeth have been f***ed up and the only s**t that changed has been my f***ing teeth. People are tired.”

Cardi also encouraged her followers to vote, and not just in the forthcoming presidential election but locally, too.

“We can vote for mayors, we can vote for judges and we can also vote for DAs – district attorneys,” she said. “The people that are voting for these people are most likely cops, most likely rednecks, that’s why every time that some f***ed s**t like this happens, it goes in their favour.”

Peaceful protests, as well as scenes of looting and arson, have occurred in Minnesota and Kentucky in recent days following the killing by police of George Floyd. The 46-year-old was filmed gasping for air and begging for his life as a police officer knelt on his neck.
