The Bafta nominations for 2021 have been announced.

With awards season in full swing and, it was the turn of British film voters to unveil the films in the running for trophies at the next ceremony on the calendar.

Leading the pack with seven nominations each are Nomadland and Rocks followed by The Father, Mank, Minari and Promising Young Woman, which all have six.

This year’s nominations are the first since a “watershed” seven-month investigation into the lack of diversity at the 2020 nominations.

Led by chair Krishnendu Majumdar, Bafta introduced more than 120 changes to its voting, membership and campaigning process including a new longlist round of voting and the addition of two extra acting nominees, bringing the total to six.

As a result, four women and three foreign-language directors were nominated for top award.

Typically, the Baftas take place in February, but – as with every other film awards show – it’s been delayed due to the pandemic.

The ceremony will now take place on 11 April, a fortnight before the Oscars, the nominations for which will be announced on Monday (15 March).
