Frank Carter cancels US tour dates after serious car crash in Devon

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes have been forced to cancel the first week of their forthcoming North American tour after the singer was involved in a major car crash in Devon.

According to an Instagram post on his page, he suffered “some cuts and scrapes, a kneecap in the wrong place, bruised ribs and a headache that won’t go away”.

His friend Pete suffered more serious injuries, Carter said, writing: “He was cut from the wreckage by no less than 11 firefighters with a triple fractured pelvis, ruptured spleen, mutliple broken ribs and the kind of cuts and bruises you get from being hit by a car.”

Both were taken by ambulance to Derriford A&A in Plymouth. Carter was released from hospital care on Friday 20 September.

He shared his regret at the cancelled dates and said he and the band, who released their third album End of Suffering in May this year, would do “everything in our power to make it up to you and are reviewing all the options including rescheduling”.

The affected shows are:

23 September – New York, Bowery Ballroom
24 September – Baltimore, Ottobar
25 September – Philadelphia, Underground Arts
27 September – Louisville, Louder Than Life Festival
28 September – Detroit, El Club
29 September – Chicago, Cobra Lounge

Carter concluded: “We are lucky to be alive and I hope to be well enough to play the rest of the tour. Thank you for your understanding and your support.”
